This item is called a stick dulcimer or a walking dulcimer. Also sometimes called a Strum stick. It is built just like my 3 string guitars on a 25" scale, but is fretted on the diatonic scale. This means that only the whole notes are fretted, no half notes (sharps or flats). Being a beginner myself I found this to be the easiest instrument, besides the diddley bow, to learn to play songs on. If you want the half notes for blues etc. you can still play them with a slide. It is acoustic and electric and sounds great both ways. This one is made with a real nice red Brick House cigar box. The neck is made out of maple with an oak heel. Very fun + easy to play!
