This item is called a Strumstick. Also sometimes called a stick dulcimer or a walking dulcimer. It is built similarly to my 3 string guitars, but is fretted on the diatonic scale. This means that only the whole notes are fretted, no half notes (sharps or flats). Being a beginner myself I found this to be the easiest instrument, besides the diddley bow, to learn to play songs on. If you want the half notes for blues etc. you can still play them with a slide. It is acoustic and electric and sounds great both ways. This one is made with a great Norman Rockwell cookie tin which accurately depicts what happens in every room when I play:). The neck and heel are maple. Very fun + easy to play!
